The Institute
The Indian Institute of Capital Markets (IICM) was established in 1989 by the erstwhile, Unit Trust of India as UTI Institute of Capital Markets. IICM has emerged as one of the premier institutes of the securities markets in Asia. The Institute has contributed significantly to the development of Indian capital markets by conducting policy research, offering executive education programmes and providing advisory service to the market intermediaries in India and other developing markets. IICM started Financial Engineering and Risk Management Programme in 2007 and successfully completed first two offerings and now announces the third offering to commence on January 24, 2009.

About the Programme
The landscape financial services sector in India has undergone metamorphic changes in the recent past. Globalisation, deregulation and marketisation have thrust innovations in processes, products, practices and service standards.

All this demanded a new set of professionals to innovate and compete in order to grow domestically and become internationally competitive players. Continual up-gradation of skills is the need of the hour. IICM, considering the new demand, has designed a six-month certificate course on “Financial Engineering and Risk Management”.

The prospective candidates will be able to equip themselves with the modern products, processes, practices and techniques in the financial services industry.

The programme is divided into the following courses/modules:

  3. Derivatives Valuation and Pricing (Index, Stock, Forex and Commodities)

  5. Fixed Income Securities Analysis & Portfolio Management

  7. Structured Products (Liquidity Risk, Model Risk)

  8. Financial Modelling and Econometric Packages

  9. Risk Management

  10. Case Studies

  11. New Financial Order – New Regulation and New Financial World

  12. Project on Risk Management (two months)
Suitability
For middle and senior executives working in banks, primary dealers, mutual funds, financial institutions, equity research firms, investment banks, corporate financial risk managers, brokerage houses and other financial services industry.
Eligibility
Bachelor’s degree of three-year duration from recognised Indian university with relevant experience, preferably with adequate quantitative background.
Selection
Based on the performance in the personal interview and counselling scheduled to be held on Jan 16 & 17, 2009 (Friday & Saturday)."
Duration
Six months starting from January 24, 2009 and classes will be held on Saturdays, Sundays and Public holidays.

Timings
2.00 pm to 7.00 pm on Saturdays and 10.00 am to 6.00 pm on Sundays and public holidays.

Accommodation
On payment basis accommodation may be made available subject to availability.
Venue
Indian Institute of Capital Markets, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.

Application Fee
Rs.300/- (Application along with brochure can obtained from the Institute or can be downloaded from the Institute’s website and to be submitted along with D.D of Rs.300/-)
Last date for submission of application form: January 15, 2009.

Course fee
Rs. 70,000/-(to be paid in two instalments i.e. Rs. 45,000/- before admission and Rs. 25,000/- by the end of April 2009 inclusive of taxes).
Academic Infrastructure
IICM has state-of-art technology and classrooms. A well-equipped computer-lab with latest financial databases such as Prowess, Alpha, Business Beacon, Mergers & Acquisitions; Trends and numerical technical packages such as SPSS, Matlab, WinRATS, Eviews, and Bloomberg connected over LAN and with high-speed Internet broadband. IICM library holds a collection of highly specialised books and subscribes to journals to meet the requirements of the programme.
